Here are just Some of What People are saying about Joe

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I just love you guys...I saw the promo last night for the first time and my husband thought I was nuts cause I jumped up dancing yelling Yaaaaaaaaaa...lol How happy I am to see him back on he's absolutely the best role model of a caring dedicated policeman. I of course am a true fan of the first 48 and will never abandon that show. But adding Schillaci with his own show is wonderful.

I just saw the show. Joe's great. I admire his work. He seems to have a new found passion or possibly has revisited the emotions that he had before. I admire Joe for his police work but I truly admire him for his outlook on life and his attitude toward family. I am proud for him, the way he made plans with his sister's son. I knew he would decide to take him in. I couldn't imagine Joe turning his back on anyone, especially family. A great man.

Lieutenant Joseph Schillaci of A&E’s reality TV series called The First 48 is a 24-year veteran of the Miami Police Department.  All of his life he has had a passion for people, his family and work.  He is presently the Deputy Commander of The City of Miami Police Department's Communications Section where he has been given the awesome responsibility of coordinating and overseeing the entire 911 system for both police and fire.

Prior to this assignment, he proudly served as a Lieutenant in the Community Affairs Section over seeing and engaging in community policing projects, and supporting various community involvement programs.

Aside from his continual endeavors and current assignment, he also commands The Miami Police Department's Hostage Negotiating Team.  One of his career highlights as both a negotiator and team leader was negotiating with a deranged father who took his 3 year old daughter hostage, and held a knife to her throat.   For over 3 hours in scorching temperatures, Lt. Schillaci pleaded with and negotiated the successful release of this young child.

Prior to going to the Community Affairs Section, Lieutenant Schillaci served as the Commander of The Crime Suppression Unit where he commanded well over 300 narcotics and vice operations on some of the meanest streets known to our nation.

Some of those very operations were documented and featured In A&E’s Miami City Vice, an hour special that aired in Aug 2006.

Prior to this, The Lieutenant had been a Sergeant for over 10 years and a homicide investigator for little under 5 years. Before moving to the Homicide Unit, Schillaci worked as an undercover narcotics cop for 16 years, an experience that gave him an edge as a homicide investigator.  He was quoted as saying in one of many featured stories written in local new papers and national magazines, "My whole career as an undercover cop was structured around the mechanical, being fine tuned on the street.  Being in investigations, you have to use your brain, your heart, and everything you are made of to be successful.”

When asked, “What is the secret ingredient to making a good homicide detective,” Schillaci responded, "You have to have a passion for life, and the job. Due to the enormous responsibility you take on with the investigations, if you do not have a profound respect and passion for life, you will not be as successful at this job as you could be.”
